This may be just me but… I just needed to rant. It hurts my head that all of this is one player. Sorry for the letter format. Darling Player, For the love of god and country. If you don’t have the books don’t try to make a character based on your concept that “Hunters have dangerous jobs”. Especially when you’ve so far made three mortals and had to have your hand held through every step of the process EVERY! TIME! By more than one ST! Yes, darling, when you have to have three STs help you, over time, to make one mortal character because you “can’t do the math” (direct quote) you might want to give up and go back to your free-form stuff where everyone put up with your D.I.D. BS. In regards to your other character idea. No, if Garou mommy left behind something in your possession that just screamed to other Garou “Hay, look, KINFOLK!” you are not going to be an unaware Kinfolk. No, nope, no way. The shiny sparkly sue-mister thing you want her to have would have had her detected before she even turned 18…hell even before she turned the age of double digits. Oh and one more thing, dearest. If you ask one more ST to torture and rape your characters and I hear about it. I am going to lay down the fucking ban hammer on your head. Yes, rape happens IRL and in the WoD, but begging for it? Pestering STs to do it to your Cs? Might I suggest you find a good doctor and get an evaluation? It is people like you that make me want to find a way to FTP strangulation, because getting in my car to drive to you and hunt you down is far too much effort for your level of stupid.

There is nothing wrong with two characters taking several months to develop into a loving couple. In fact, it can be really fun to play out that interaction. Don't skip over everything so you can get to the lovey-dovey stuff right away. The journey is half the fun. And for the love of god, when you're working on building a relationship like that, don't suddenly jump ship suddenly when you find someone who wants to go from acquaintances to lovers in three days. That's a really dick move, and you're going to be leaving the player of the other love interest wondering what the hell happened. Some of us DO want to play romance, you know. It's just really difficult to do so when everyone else wants instant gratification. |

Have the Snow Leopard + CS3 problems been resolved? (If not, I'm guessing they're not going to be.) I'm on 10.4 still, so to get to Snow Leopard I have to upgrade to 10.5 first ($?) and then I'm planning to buy the $129 (Amazon price) box set, and then I won't really have money left to throw at Adobe, even for the educational version. Minirant.
So, about a year ago, a friend and I joined a game that was trying to revive itself. We enjoyed the concept, even if several of the other characters made us kind of scratch our heads — but that's a rant all to itself. We go back and forth for a few months mostly without incident, and the board slowly dies around us. Not really wanting to give up on the SL we'd created, my friend and I continue to RP with one another unabated even when everyone else had left. I go to log in to make a post for him today and find that my account's been wiped. And his. And everyone else's, along with every single post made to the board since it opened last year. Not archived, like they usually do with old threads, deleted. The only accounts still active are the admin's — who, before the wipe, hadn't logged in in about eight months? and two mods she was often known to smut with. If she wanted to wipe the board and try again, fine, I just wish there'd been some warning so I could make my own copies of threads I'd particularly liked / would have liked to reference for continuity. Nrrrgh. |

Please. I don't think that, the night after being brutally raped, a teenaged girl would find comfort in a threesome. Even if it is her best friends being 'supportive' and proving that they still they love her as a friend. Especially not if they're all genderswapped versions of guys who think that watching a boxing match is a way to bond. 1- No, my priest guy, brother Markus, is not a pedophile. Can we stop with that joke already? It was funny the first time, the accusations are getting a little old now... 2- Yes, I'm a girl who plays guys most of the time. Yes, I've played ONE dude who passed himself off as a girl. One, in around ten years of tabletop gaming. No, ALL my characters are NOT sexual deviants. The crossdresser was actually completely straight, he even got married at the end of the game! Can we, again, stop with the jokes already? My own sexual orientation has nothing to do with who my characters lust for. I am not my character. 3- On that subject, I'd appreciate if you found another expression for "this is bad" than "gayyyy". What are we, twelve? Real life homosexual here, I know you don't mean anything bad by it on purpose, but it does get on my nerves. Besides, some people might be less tolerant than me by the name-calling, and you might end up hurting someone for real. Be more careful. I actually like (most of!) these guys a lot, it's just minor annoyances. I know they're teasing me, but there are other subjects to tease me about than this one. |

We get that you can't let anything go, but harassing players on a board you stormed away from is only showing how immature you are and driving players away from your new board. They're comparing notes and figuring out you're complaining about them to the each other. How about you think of other people for a change? It would totally surprise everyone if you acted like a grownup and got yourself a different attitude. Play and let play. Trolling a board you left so you can complain to the people still on it about what they're doing is sad. Play your sparkly slut alteregos with your little group of sex starved associates and create all the self absorbed plots you want to your heart's content. Nobody you left behind cares that you've moved on. Why do you still care about what they do? |

Working and need some suggestions.
I'm working on a new RP board. It's branching into canon which I've decided to break into since I normally avoid it like the plague. I'm curious if I can get some feedback from members of this site since I trust a lot of your judgments on things. This is the first attempt I've made in a while for a Forum RP and I'm extremely nervous about it. http://deathnotesr.proboards.com/index.cgiI've only been working on the site itself for a half hour. If anyone would be interested in dropping some thoughts on management or anything else I'd love to hear it and appreciate any comments. It's a OC take on Death Note. Stopping just before the end of the first season to introduce a new big bad and change the ending of that episode. I'm wanting to basically make a anime-themed RP to mostly vent on. Bringing in themes that will fit and work with the DN-verse. |

E-Peens and the Single Gamer
There is something really REALLY annoying about gamemasters who wave their E-peen about by stating just how badass their player PCs are, and who will totally kick your PC's arse if they just look crosseyed at him. I swear, if I get the "Do you really think it's a good idea to annoy\love\flirt\paint\ignore MyPup?" statement again, I will find a way to send a punch to someone via my modem. Especially when it's not meant an advice and just a way to try and cower me into being awed of his PC like everyone else. |

This photo essay is awesome!
Japan Then and Now"In 1989, Japan reveled in excess and seemed poised to rule the world. Twenty years later, the Japanese economy has been looking down for so long it's hard to remember the days when salarymen and capsule hotels captured the world's imagination." Basically, virtually everything from the 1989 photos exists now (maybe fewer people play $1,000 rounds of golf, and while you'd be even harder-pressed to find a housewife in kimono dressing her husband in a suit in the morning now, it was probably not all that easy in 1989, either), and none of the 2009 photos tell you a damned thing about the current situation, with the possible exception of the closed subway station (I have no idea) and the food handout (I have no idea if that indicates a change or not). Well, I confess I don't know about the management training program from the 1989 section, but I wouldn't be surprised if they still exist. The style of caption-writing on many of the photos is hilarious. Objective description of photo contents full stop. Tangentially related or completely unrelated description of the terrible current economy full stop. (I guess you're supposed to draw some kind of connection.) Workers head out after a long day at the office in Tokyo's Ginza and Shimbashi districts in 2009. In April, business sentiment among Japanese manufacturers reached its lowest point since 1974. ...WUT? (Those are not manufacturing districts, for the record. :P) Okay then. |

Lost Things
In lieu of a true trip report on Disneyland, I offer this in the spirit of light hearted frivolity. You may or may not know that Tinkerbell is my favorite Disney character. This may not seem terribly butch, but bear with me. ( I think I can prove you wrong. )Ahem. Anyway, I was more than a bit worried when I saw that Disney was making a direct to video Tinkerbell movie. (Actually, they've made two now.) The amount of crap sequels that Disney has been churning out lately would make Walt turn over in his grave. We caught it on tv after we got back from the park, and it turns out I needn't have been worried. ( Plot summary under here. )So, did I like the film? Yeah, I did. It's totally a kids film, but it's not really written down too much, although I'm biased, because I love the character. There was even a point where I was thinking, "huh, so this must be the point where she just leaves to join Peter Pan." Did they stay true to the character? Totally. If anything they made her cooler than before. She still has a quick, hot temper and there are a few times that you get the feeling that she's just had it and is going to beat the tar out of one of the other fae. I was worried that they gave her a voice, but it has precedent and the voice they chose was a good one. Also, Mad Scientist Pixie! Did they stay true to fae lore or at least Peter Pan lore? Not really. They kinda ignored that whole seelie/unseelie thing, instead going with a single fairy queen and then four fae lords, one for each season--probably for simplicity sake. At first I thought they were making the queen far too nice, and then I realized that they had done something very subtle. As nice as she was, you could tell that each and every fae in Neverland was clearly scared shitless of the queen. Anyway, they didn't really explore Neverland, although there were a few cute references to the main story. The fairies also didn't create their own pixie dust, but rather got it from a well/spring/thing that pulled it in from the environment. Other than that, um, well, the music was all celtic inspired and the art was both beautiful and very reminiscent of early Disney films. So, if you have younger kids, or like films about pixies, it's definitely worth a watch. Current Mood:  cheerful |

Well, November is packed with (writing/editing) work: * Freelance editing project, at my day-job rate. * Starting DFRPG edit work Real Soon Now. [1] * Working on STotC at odd moments. [2] * UA PDF project progressing. [3] * Day-job editing of many, many 2 yr old DOCs. * Once again, pondering Hyperworld. [4] I think that this weekend is the last anyone will see me in a social context until December. NOTES:

[2] That would be the Strange Tales of the Century sourcebook.
[3] That would be the Thin Black Line, the Order of Saint Cecil sourcebook.
