    No Respect For The Medicated
Before I rant, there's a few things you have to know about me. I have Borderline Personality Disorder with auditory hallucinations. I am a fully functional (and fully medicated) member of society with almost no problems coping with real life. The only real problems I've run into are that I have severe organizational issues and a bit lot of clinginess.

    That being said... )

    Dear You,
Not posting for a month, trying to get me to play Out-of-character but in-character IM posts with you, and then signing off every time I say hi to you is not okay. I thought you a fool, but when you posted on the board you were an awesome role-player. So I was alright, I could wait. Leaving without a word from you except 'I'm sick', for another month started to bother me (especially because I had no idea if you were even alive or dead).

What pushed me over the edge was when you came back, posted everywhere that your posts were needed, and then proceeded to yell at me (and not just me but every single other person on the forum who had threads with you... and in one case upsetting someone enough that they asked for their characters to be removed from the entire forum) the next day when I didn't post back to you within the hour. Yeah, you're pretty much on my 'hope you get trapped in a care fire' list now.

    No Love,
    Me

P.S... I hope you learn something from this, and grow the hell up.

    no sir
A recent issue has come to my attention which begs to be addressed:

Naming your character after yourself makes it a self-insert, or at least a character to whom you are destined to have an uncomfortable attachment. It is impossible to convince me otherwise.

This is short and sweet, or not so sweet but whatever.

Okay, let's use some common sense. You post and ask for comments (not the sort of "this is good" or "this is bad" comment you ask for when you post a fic or something but the "blah blah RP" sort of comment). And I commented. So It'd be nice if you commented back? I mean, you did ask for it.

I do understand that sometimes people are too busy, etc, etc. It's just pretty disappointing when you comment somewhere and expect someone to answer back and then they never do.

EDIT: Also. How exactly do you tell someone you know that they are not as perfect as they think they are (as in: they can improve and you know that and wouldn't mind giving them a few tips on how to do it) but are insanely afraid of the backlash?

The Subaru's worrying birthday-morning surprise (the "Check Brakes" light) turned out to be low brake fluid, not anything more expensive. They checked the brake pads and lines and so on and didn't find any problems; they're just getting past the 50% worn mark and that caused a gradual dip in the fluid. They filled it up and the total was $30. I admit, that added a fair amount of stress to the entire rest of December 8th.

Getting that all checked out resulted in TOTAL FREEZING on my part (I didn't plan well), but that's OK...I survived. I feel a bit lousy now though. Debating going back out for pinto beans to make beans and ham ([info]katequicksilvr made me think of this, and it's good weather for it) but it's also good weather for not going back out. If only Trader Joe's carried dried beans. Argh.

so apparently even though I spent the money this year in March...since it was for a bill for things that happened in Late dec..like the 28th...it does not count for my flex spending this year!!
I am very bummed, since that was the largest claim I had to file...
I spent the money this year so why cant I get it back?? wahhhhh I wanna whine till they give it to me!!!!

    The Voice of Reason
In late summer, 1987, I joined a bunch of my friends in attending an anti-apartheid protest at University of Illinois, the college I was attending.

This incident is probably part of what led to me believing that "marching in the streets" was pretty useless as a political action. I know people still do it, but I don't think it changes anything, and it leads to the mob/herd mentality - talk, don't think.

Anyway, part of this protest was in support of one guy. I forgot his name now, but we'll call him "Guy." People were shouting "Justice for Guy" and "Bring Guy's Attacker to Justice." And being a good herd protestor, I joined in. For a bit. Finally, I worked my way to the back edge of the crowd and found an organizer.

(The following conversation is entirely paraphrased, as I do NOT have an eidetic memory.)

    "Who's Guy?" I asked.

"He had his legs cut off while protesting against apartheid."

"HOLY SHIT!!!!" I was suitably horrified. "Man, South Africa's getting pretty ballsy to just chop a guys legs off!"

"Oh, no, man, it happened here in the USA."

    "What? That's pretty unconstitutional!"

"No, see, there was this train carrying some South African politico, and Guy sat down in front of it, and when the train hit him, he lost his legs."

"Man, that's f- - - wait, what? He sat down in front of a moving train?"

"Yep, and the train conductor didn't even stop. Ran him right over."

"Uh, dude, do you understand basic physics?"

    "Huh?"
"Moving train. Lots of mass. Lots of velocity. Not much stopping power. Guy is lucky he's not dead."

"Are you saying what happened to him was just?"

"Um . . . no. No one should lose their legs. I'm saying he was stupid."

"Dude, if you're not ready to take a stand against South Africa, you shouldn't be here."

"No, I'm totally against Apartheid. I'm just saying that civil disobedience doesn't apply to laws of science. The conductor is probably mentally scarred for life, so how are we going to punish him any farther. Guy was an idiot. Apartheid is still wrong."

"Whatever. Go home until you want to really support the cause."

I still attended anti-apartheid rallies, avoiding the organizers. A few weeks later, after getting intimidated out of a group called "United Progressives," I gave up. "You don't belong here" was pretty clear, and I was still kind of insecure at age 18. (Apparently, being straight, male, white, and hygienic meant I couldn't possibly be on their side.)

I never gave up my core beliefs. They may have become less idealistic as I grew older (imagine that), but in the end, I still believe now what I did then. But organized protests? Still strikes me as a load of useless crap.

    Don't talk - act.

Dreamkiller, a review in 4 words:
    "Circle-strafe and shoot."

For free, it's neat enough to be worth checking out.

For pay? Yeah, no. I wouldn't buy this game. In fact, I've got two days left on my free trial and I'm bored.

I'm not deleting it yet because I might feel the urge to play tomorrow or something. But, really, the ENTIRE GAMEPLAY is "circle-strafe and shoot", and the only things they've got to make it different are some enemies who can't be injured until you step through a portal (which, for a short time, lets you injure them but makes normal enemies invincible) and some enemies who resurrect all nearby enemies until they themselves are killed. Move to a new area following the little arrow, when it turns red stay in the current area and kill everything. When it turns green, move to the next area, rinse, repeat. It's like playing City Of Heroes single-player.

Yay, another example of U.S. law enforcement/military acting as government-sanctioned thugs. Peter Watts, author of one of my all-time favorite science-fiction novels (Starfish) was assaulted by border guards while returning to his home in Canada on December 8th. I know this stuff happens all the time all over the world without us being aware of it, but it certainly gets highlighted when someone you're familiar with gets worked over.

Here's Watts' brief summary of the event.

Corey Doctorow also has some things to say.

    Dear Joshua RPer,

I can't take it anymore. Things were going excellently at first, and then you just up and disappeared, for AT LEAST half a year.

My Sho has moved on to better things, and better people.

For you to come back out of the blue and expect to have Sho back all to yourself (me not RPing him with anyone else) and to be so upset and offended that I've been playing him with others since you disappeared?

Fuck you. You're the one that left me without any warning. I'd be more than happy to still RP with you, but to drop RPing with people who have, you know, actually been around when you disappeared? Forget it.

    WE GET IT. SHE'S MOE.
I have a friend, who I frequently do little script-crack RPs with. She has a very moe character, who she likes to use.m She's.. a bit self-inserty, since they share the same first name.. but yeah.

Anyway, she recently joined an RP group I'm part of, that requires you to use para. And i;ve noticed.. that's FORCING the 'moe' factor upon us.

    For example:

"She decided to take a walk in town, and came across the ice cream shop she went to once before, where she spotted the red-clad shinigami. Feeling somewhat peckish, she stepped inside, then spotted the others. "Oh! H-Hello, everyone." She gave them all a cute, dazzling smile."

Now, I can understand saying that someone has a 'bright' or 'dazzling' smile.. but 'cute'? That seems like she's trying to get out to say "OMG SO CUTE!" IC. After all, what is cute to one person, may not be to another.

And I swear. After every post she makes a comment such as. "OH GOD THE MOE" or "SO MOE FFFF".

Nothing big, though. I just wanted to get it off my chest. I'm probably being unreasonable, but it's annoying me.

Yes BRPS. I DO post here a lot. xDDD

Actually, I think this might be AWESOME!
Not necessarily bad RPing, but I'm not sure it's good RPing, either, and I have to share it somewhere. I may crosspost it to Good_RPers_Rock, but again... I don't know if I'd call it good RPing. It's more like Insane_RPers_are_Awesome material, but there's no community for that.

I am involved in a one-on-one RP with a guy, and this RP has gone on for about four months without incident. In the middle of our (very serious, non-crack) high-fantasy RP, our characters encountered a cursed labyrinth. This was a very nifty twist, and it provided us with a much-needed scene change (the scenery had thus far been a collection of small provincial towns and open fields, and it was getting very old, very fast).

Cue the other guy's character, a very serious, non-crack mage, bursting into a rendition of David Bowie's "Magic Dance," complete with random goblins and an infant he apparently grabbed out of the blue*.

I have never laughed so hard in my life.

    Best Friday ever.

*This is a reference to the movie Labyrinth, for those of you who are dwelling under a rock.

Also, yes, he does plan to write an actual post after this, or so he tells me.

Well they offically announced a chronicle start date for OWOD Vampire 6/1/2010. I am very glad they are not going to be running other OWOD venues, there is piss poor support for the venues we have now little lone doubling up on OWOD and NWOD genres.

I am glad that they are not having multiple OWOD Vampire games and just having a "Vampire" Venue.

They are keeping witht he old chronicles MC system in relation to starting Generation/experience. Having not earned the prviliage to play a low generation character last chronicle (I played an 11th gen tremere for nearly 6 years w/o dropping generation) I now have the MC to play a very low generation.

Now its a matter of what I want to play...

Brujah Iconoclast...Anarch...Leader of a Northern California Biker Gang called the Sons of Carthage (semi kidding)

Tremere Inquisitor...Camarilla...Hunts down rogue Tremere/Infernalists and other practioners of Thuamaturgy.

Those are the brightest ideas floating around right now.

"Dreamkiller" is free on Steam this weekend. It's an FPS game where you go into people's dreams and shoot their nightmares.

I haven't played it yet (it's installing now), but for free, how bad can it be?

EDIT: HOLY CRAP THE FIRST LEVEL IS FULL OF SPIDERS.

Not a very complicated or original game, but entirely worth the price I paid so far. I get to run around in a really atmospheric world setting spiders on fire with my brain, or sometimes just blowing them up with a minigun or rocket launcher. And isn't that really what it's all about?

Frazetta's son steals $20 mil of his dad's artwork
Alfonso Frank Frazetta, son of the renowned fantasy artist Frank Frazetta, was arrested in eastern Pennsylvania yesterday after having reportedly stolen 90 items valued at approximately $20 million from a museum dedicated to his father's work. The younger Frazetta, aged 52, had an accomplice with a backhoe who helped him pull the door off of the museum. Frazetta was arrested after loading the works into a trailer and vehicle and was apprehended before he could drive off and flee the scene, according to The Pocono Record.

Plz to be reading my words?
This happened to my friend JUST last night/today.

    I don't think you read the rules. o_o; )

TL;DR: Girl sees AD for RP. Does not read rules/what OP wants. Applies anyway. Profile full of fail. D:
    Edited for HTML/CUT fail D:
EDIT: =/ Okay, so my friend doesn't like RPing straight stuff? Neither do I. How dare we have preferences guys! Especially seeing as that's not the point of the suck.
If it wasn't someone RPing yaoi/shounen-ai/boyxboy, I don't think you'd all be making such a big deal out of it. :|

    EDIT II:
The only reason I put the first edit up was because of cherryfruit's original comment. I then was only trying to defend my friend and thus that's when he/her and paperclipchains began to gang up on me and all the wank began. =/
So if anyone wants to yell at me or whatever for what I said, fine. I'm not going to reply though since I'm sick of defending myself.
If you want to make a comment about the actual suck that was stated, then go ahead. But if it's to anything that happened/was said between me, cherryfruit, and paperclipchains, then I'm just not going to listen e__e

I still think cherryfruit's original comment was uncalled for and made absolutely no sense and personally to me sounded like he/she was just trying to yell at us cause it was an RP requesting a maleXmale relationship.

Also, to those complaining how my friend won't RP bedroom scenes.
This is because the site the AD was put on is a PG13 site and RP content is not allowed to go above PG16. Sexual scenes are to be avoided or skipped over. Not RPed out. Period.
She put that up simply because people try and break such rules and she didn't want Mods/Admins to think she was planning on breaking them. It's happened.
